Sornac è un punto di partenza ideale per numerose passeggiate a piedi e in bicicletta attraverso i magnifici panorami dell'Altopiano di Millevaches, le sue foreste, le torbiere e i laghi. Oltre alle escursioni, si possono praticare molte altre attività all'aperto, tra cui la pesca, la canoa e il kayak, e visite culturali (il castello medievale di Rochefort, Ussel e le sue strade medievali, ecc.) Approfittate delle spiagge dell'Etang des Chaux per rilassarvi e organizzare picnic in famiglia (la pesca all'Etang des Chaux va da aprile a fine ottobre, con una gara annuale in agosto).
