Situato nei Pirenei Atlantici, nella regione montuosa del Béarn, nel cuore della Valle d'Ossau, questo rifugio d'alta quota è accessibile tramite escursioni.
1h30 di salita dalla diga di Artouste (accesso con il trenino), 3h dal Caillou de Socques (strada di Pourtalet) e circa 1 giorno dai rifugi di Pombie, Ayous, Migouélou, Larribet, Respumoso o Marcadau.
È possibile scalare le cime dell'Arriel, del Palas o del Balaïtous e fare tappa su numerosi itinerari escursionistici di alto livello (HRP, Tour du Palas, Tour du Balaïtous, ecc.)
