Escursionare intorno a Saulxures è un modo piacevole per apprezzare la dolcezza dei suoi paesaggi. Citata per la prima volta nel 1513, la creazione di Saulxures è certamente molto anteriore. L'etimologia del suo nome è controversa: per alcuni, deriverebbe da saline, per altri, un luogo piantato di salici. Rinominato "Salzern" dopo l'annessione al Reich nel 1871, il villaggio conta 1200 abitanti nel XIX secolo contro 530 oggi.
