Hiking around Saulxures is a pleasant way to appreciate the softness of its landscapes. First mentioned in 1513, the creation of Saulxures is certainly much earlier. The etymology of its name is controversial: for some, it would come from saline, for others, a place planted with willows. Renamed "Salzern" after the annexation to the Reich in 1871, the village had 1200 inhabitants in the 19th century compared to 530 today.
