Clun si trova interamente nell'Area di Straordinaria Bellezza Naturale delle Shropshire Hills. Una ricerca della Campagna per la Protezione della Campagna Inglese suggerisce che Clun sia uno dei luoghi più tranquilli in Inghilterra. Il nome della città deriva da quello del fiume Clun che scorre da ovest a est attraverso l'insediamento. La Valle di Clun è dominata dall'agricoltura, anche se alcune aree di bosco rimangono. Il fiume Unk si unisce al Clun appena a ovest della città.
