Il Priore della Cattedrale di Winchester era un monastero cattedrale attaccato alla Cattedrale di Winchester, fornendo il clero per la chiesa. Cenwealh, figlio di Cynegils, è accreditato per la costruzione del Vecchio Ministero di Winchester negli anni '640, e un nuovo vescovato fu creato negli anni '660 con Wine come primo vescovo. Sebbene attaccato dai vichinghi nell'860 e nell'879, il monastero sopravvisse e si riprese.
