Il monastero di San Giovanni il Teologo sorge sull'isola di Patmo, in Grecia; nel 1999 è stato inserito nell'elenco dei Patrimoni dell'umanità dell'UNESCO.
Il monastero venne fondato nel 1088 dal monaco bizantino Cristodulo e, anche grazie all'aiuto dell'imperatore Alessio I Comneno, venne consacrato a San Giovanni il "Teologo". Successivamente fu continuato dai seguaci di Cristodulo e ampliato nei secoli XV-XVII.
