Ialisos era una delle tre città doriche di Rodi e una delle sei città dell'hexàpolis dorica. La sua fondazione è attribuita all'eroe eponimo Ialis, figlio di Cèrcaf. Era situata a soli sei stadi a sud-ovest della città di Rodi, che dopo la sua fondazione nel 408 a.C. portò alla decadenza di Ialisos. Ai tempi di Strabone era un piccolo villaggio che non era più indipendente. Omero la menziona già nel "Catalogo delle navi", nell'Iliade, che insieme a Lindos e Camiros andò in guerra di Troia sotto la guida di Tlepòlem.
