Il Polje di Tripoli è una grande conca (un polje a circa 650 m di altitudine, lungo circa 30 km e largo tra 12,5 e 2,5 km). Il Bacino di Tripoli è stato gradualmente regolato dalle acque piovane (principalmente dopo il 1945) e trasformato in terreni agricoli. Nel sud-ovest, le inondazioni, che si verificano occasionalmente nella conca dopo inverni piovosi, come nel 2003, hanno formato il temporaneo Lago Taka. Questo lago è stato regolato da un nuovo stagno, per trattenere l'acqua per l'irrigazione.
