Nell'area rurale che circonda il sito sono stati rinvenuti alcuni frammenti di manufatti attribuibili al paleolitico e strumenti del neolitico, come la parte anteriore di un'ascia in serpentino di mm 80 x 57 qui raffigurata , a conferma della possibile esistenza nel luogo dove ora sorge Cortemilia, di "stazioni" di popolazioni nel periodo che va dal VI al II millennio a.C.
