Nel territorio budonese sono presenti due domus de janas, sepolture preistoriche scavate nella roccia, che testimoniano la frequentazione di queste zone già in epoca neolitica, in un arco di tempo che spazia indicativamente tra il 4.000 e il 3.000 a.C. Le due domus di Budoni rivestono particolare interesse in quanto rappresentano l'ultima attestazione nordorientale di questo tipo di sepoltura, diffusa invece in quasi tutta la Sardegna. Appena a nord, entrando nella regione storica della Gallura, non si ha più presenza di domus de janas per tutto il quadrante nordorientale dell'isola.
