Il comune appartiene all'Unione montana Feltrina. Il territorio si estende nel Feltrino orientale , alla destra idrografica del fiume Piave, comprendendo verso nord le prime cime delle Dolomiti.
Il capoluogo del comune è Cesio che si trova a circa 12 km a nord-est da Feltre e a 18 km a nord-ovest da Belluno.
