Lessolo viene citato per la prima volta in un documento del 1044. Nella zona sono stati però rinvenuti indizi che fanno pensare alla presenza di insediamenti salassi, romani e poi longobardi.
La parrocchia di San Giorgio fu istituita nel 1305. La chiesa di San Giorgio nella sua attuale struttura risale principalmente al XVIII secolo.
