Il Catinaccio è una cima che offre spettacolari viste panoramiche ai numerosi escursionisti e alpinisti della Val di Fassa. Le sue cime raggiungono i 3.000 metri. È delimitato a nord dal Sassolungo, un mito nella storia dell'alpinismo. Questo gruppo montuoso ospita il ghiacciaio più grande delle Dolomiti.
