Il Montiferru è una subregione della Sardegna centro-occidentale, che prende il nome dal massiccio di origine vulcanica omonimo. La massima elevazione è quella del monte Urtigu .
Il complesso vulcanico, spento da più di un milione di anni, era caratterizzato da eruzioni la cui lava nell'incedere finì per creare nuove terre sia a est, con il vasto altopiano di Abbasanta, caratterizzato da terreni basaltici, sia a ovest fino alla fascia costiera.
