La battaglia di Custoza del 24 giugno 1866 fu la battaglia che diede inizio alla terza guerra d’indipendenza. Fu la prima battaglia del Regno d’Italia e si concluse con la sconfitta italiana.
Potenzialmente superiori di numero, le truppe comandate dal generale Alfonso La Marmora si trovarono divise di fronte agli austriaci comandati dall’arciduca Alberto; e, nonostante il re Vittorio Emanuele II avesse ordinato alle truppe stanzianti a pochi chilometri dalla battaglia di muoversi, il generale Enrico della Rocca non lo fece richiamandosi agli ordini di tenere la posizione di La Marmora.
