Situata tra Cassone e Assenza, a circa trecento metri dalla costa, si estende per circa 260 m di lunghezza per una larghezza approssimativa di 60 m.
Nel X secolo, al tempo della invasione ungherese, contadini e pescatori vi si rifugiarono. Lì costruirono una sorta di fortezza, che fu distrutta dalle truppe di Federico Barbarossa nel 1158 e fu poi ricostruita dai Della Scala.
