Le Mura aureliane sono una cinta muraria costruita tra il 270 e il 275 dall'imperatore Aureliano per difendere Roma, capitale dell'impero, da eventuali attacchi dei barbari. Dopo aver subito numerose ristrutturazioni in epoche successive, sia nell'antichità, sia in epoca moderna, le mura si presentano oggi in un buono stato di conservazione per la maggior parte del loro tracciato; nell'antichità correvano per circa 19 km, oggi sono lunghe 12,5 km . Costruite oltre 1.700 anni fa, con il loro percorso di oltre 18 km che cinge una superficie pari a più di 1.200
ettari, sono tra le cinte murarie antiche più lunghe e meglio conservate al mondo.
