Superata piazza San Pietro e percorrendo via della Fratta, si giunge ad un bivio dove convergono sette strade, tra cui via del Fosso: ecco la Colonna della Madonna dello Stellario. L'obelisco, di ordine corinzio, poggia su un piedistallo raffigurante una veduta di Lucca. Sulla sommità è posta una statua della Madonna, donata alla "Compagnia della Concezione o dello Stellario" (Compagnia della Concezione o dello Stellario), che aveva sede in San Francesco. La statua, opera dello scultore Giovanni Lazzoni, è un inserto barocco di notevole importanza e fu posta sopra la colonna alla fine del XVII secolo.
