Subito dopo la Prima Guerra Mondiale, i belgi tentarono nuovamente di annettere la Zelanda Flamandra al Belgio. Ciò avvenne durante i negoziati dei "vincenti della Prima Guerra Mondiale" al Quay d'Orsay (Parigi) nel 1919. Volevano annettere sia la Zelanda Flamandra che il Limburgo Olandese. "Entrambi i territori appartengono storicamente, linguisticamente e culturalmente alla Fiandra", recitava l'argomento. Si pensava che fosse semplicemente un errore storico del passato che doveva essere corretto, secondo il parere belga. Ma quella "festa" non ebbe luogo...
