Il mulino originale fu costruito nel 1875 e secondo alcuni fu subito dotato di autocommutazione. Tuttavia, opere di riferimento nel campo dei mulini menzionano che l'Eva a Usquert fu il primo mulino olandese dotato di autocommutazione nel 1891. Il mulino di Birdaard divenne oltre a un mulino a grano e un mulino a pelare anche un mulino a sega. Unico è che il mulino non si trova al centro della segheria, come il Fram a Woltersum.
