Gli uomini e le persone anziane pensano di essere migliori nella lettura delle mappe di quanto non siano in realtà. Mentre le donne tendono a sottovalutarsi. Questo inizia dall'età adolescenziale. Inoltre, i ragazzi iniziano a sovrastimare le proprie capacità in quel periodo. Probabilmente perché gli stereotipi a partire da quell'età influenzano l'immagine di sé.
