Il villaggio di Sint Jansklooster rientra nell'ex Amministrazione di Vollenhove ed è stato nominato in base all'insediamento fondato da un certo Giovanni di Ommen (1350-1420). Questo excentico leader cieco di credenti cattolici separati si stabilì qui nel 1400. 'Sint Jans Kamp' era il nome dell'insediamento. Oggi rimane solo un muro del monastero restaurato.
