Description

Il municipio di Bolsward è un monumento storico costruito all'inizio del XVII secolo. Oggi non ospita più il municipio dal 2021 e accoglie ora un museo, un caffè, una biblioteca, un ufficio municipale e gli archivi municipali. Il municipio, costruito tra il 1614 e il 1616 da Jacob Gysbert van Bolsward, Marten Dominici e Abraham Jacobs, dominato dalla sua torre slanciata, presenta in facciata un gradino monumentale che abbellisce l'ingresso centrale, ricostruito nel 1768 in stile rococò. Le sculture presenti in facciata sono opera di Johan Schünneman, Jan Pieter Hans, Hendrik Minnenman e Hendrik de Zwolle. All'interno, l'ex sala del consiglio municipale è ancora decorata in stile del XVII secolo. L'edificio è stato restaurato maldestramente tra il 1892 e il 1895.
