The town hall of Bolsward is a historical monument built in the early 17th century. It no longer houses the town hall since 2021 and now hosts a museum, a café, a library, a municipal counter, as well as the municipal archives. The town hall, built between 1614 and 1616 by Jacob Gysbert van Bolsward, Marten Dominici, and Abraham Jacobs, dominated by its slender tower, has a facade featuring a monumental staircase leading to the central entrance, which was rebuilt in 1768 in the rococo style. The sculptures on the facade are the work of Johan Schünneman, Jan Pieter Hans, Hendrik Minnenman, and Hendrik de Zwolle. Inside, the former municipal council chamber is still decorated in the style of the 17th century. The building was clumsily restored between 1892 and 1895.
