Il villaggio si trova ai piedi del Montferland e del Bergherbos. Zeddam si trova lungo la strada da Doetinchem a 's-Heerenberg. Questa strada attraversava il villaggio fino all'inizio del 21° secolo, ma a causa dei problemi di traffico, dal'inizio del 21° secolo il traffico è deviato attorno a Zeddam. Nel 1821 il comune di Zeddam, insieme ai comuni di Netterden e 's-Heerenberg, si unì al nuovo comune di Bergh. Nel 2005 il comune di Bergh si unì al nuovo comune di Montferland. Nel 1969 Vinkwijk fu aggregata a Zeddam.
