Elim è un villaggio nel comune di Hoogeveen situato nella provincia olandese di Drenthe. Il villaggio conta circa 2.335 abitanti. Elim era, come molti altri luoghi nei dintorni, originariamente un'area paludosa inaccessibile. Dal 1631 il territorio su cui si trova Elim e anche altri villaggi di torba nei dintorni era di proprietà della Compagnia delle 5000 morgen. Dopo che l'area fu acquisita dalla Compagnia olandese, ricevette il nome di Hollandscheveld. Negli anni '80 del XVIII secolo iniziarono gli scavi di torba nell'area dove oggi si trova Elim. L'anno 1786 è considerato la data di nascita di Elim, poiché è allora che si stabilirono definitivamente dei residenti.
