Laag-Keppel si trova nell'Achterhoek, lungo il fiume Oude IJssel tra Doetinchem e Doesburg e ha 580 abitanti. Viene chiamata città perché nel 1404 Keppel ottenne i diritti di città. A nord si trova il villaggio di Hummelo, a nord-ovest ci sono i villaggi di Hoog-Keppel, Voor-Drempt e Achter-Drempt e a sud-ovest si trova la frazione di Eldrik. La cittadina di Laag-Keppel, insieme a questi quattro villaggi e alla frazione, ha costituito dal 1825 al 2005 il comune di Hummelo e Keppel, che è stata fusa con alcuni altri luoghi circostanti nel comune di Bronckhorst.
