Il municipio di Balk è il precedente municipio del comune di Gaasterland. L'edificio monumentale si trova all'angolo tra Dubbelstraat e Raadhuisstraat a Balk. Il municipio del nuovo comune di Gaasterland-Sloten si trova dall'altra parte della Dubbelstraat.
Il vecchio municipio fu costruito nel 1615 su incarico dell'allora grietman di Gaasterland Obbe Obbes. Gli ancoraggi sulla facciata dell'edificio rimandano all'anno di costruzione. Nel 1836 l'edificio ottenne una nuova facciata. L'ingresso si trova sul lato nord-est ed è accessibile tramite una ripida scala con un pianerottolo. Sul pianerottolo ci sono, ai due angoli, leoni con scudi. Sul tetto si trova un campanile del 1793 con una campana fusa nel 1615 dal fonditore di campane Gerard Koster. Il vecchio municipio è stato riconosciuto come monumento nazionale. L'edificio è stato restaurato nel 1912. Nel 1974 è avvenuto un restauro del campanile.
