Il "Teatro Heerlen", precedentemente conosciuto come "Stadsschouwburg Heerlen", è il più grande teatro di Heerlen e dell'agglomerato "Parkstad Limburg", progettato da Frits Peutz e inaugurato nel 1961. Dal 1999 fa parte del gruppo "Parkstad Limburg Theaters" insieme al "Teatro Kerkrade". Entrambi i teatri condividono una programmazione che è suddivisa tra i due edifici.
Nella primavera del 2007 il teatro ha riaperto le sue porte dopo un periodo di ristrutturazione di tre anni. L'edificio dispone ora di un grande auditorium (RABOzaal), di una sala piccola (INGzaal) e di una sala media (LIMBURGzaal). Il teatro collabora, tra gli altri, con Cultura Nova, un evento estivo annuale di 10 giorni che attraversa i confini.
