Mattemburgh è una tenuta situata a nord di Hoogerheide e Woensdrecht e ai lati della strada tra Bergen op Zoom e Woensdrecht. La tenuta misura 600 ha. Fu fondata da P.J. Cuypers, che dal 1818 al 1827 fu sindaco di Bergen op Zoom. Acquistò terreni a partire dal 1807, e sua moglie, Maria van Mattemburgh, fondò nel 1847 la villa. Il giardino in stile fu realizzato tra il 1843 e il 1878. La pronipote di Cuypers, Marie Louise Cuypers, sposò il conte francese Pelletier de Chambure, da cui derivò il suo soprannome la contessina. Quando la contessa morì nel 1967, chiese a suo marito di vendere la tenuta alla Fondazione Brabants Landschap, cosa avvenuta nel 1970. Inoltre, il giardino e la villa furono donati alla Brabants Landschap dopo la morte del conte nel 1982.
