La città distrutta è un'opera che Ossip Zadkine creò in seguito al bombardamento di Rotterdam. È stata inaugurata il 15 maggio 1953 e si trova in Piazza 1940, al Leuvehaven, accanto al Museo Marittimo di Rotterdam. L'opera è un monumento nazionale.
L'opera è in bronzo e rappresenta una figura umana senza cuore, simbolo del cuore di Rotterdam andato perduto durante il bombardamento. L'opera vuole incarnare la sofferenza umana che una città doveva subire, che desiderava solo, con la grazia di Dio, vivere e fiorire come una foresta. Un grido di orrore per la disumanità e la crudeltà di questa barbarie.
Nel corso degli anni, l'opera ha ricevuto una serie di soprannomi dai cittadini di Rotterdam. Oltre a "La città distrutta", l'opera è conosciuta come "Città senza cuore" e "Jan Gat".
