Il Consiglio di Ricerca per la Sicurezza è un organo di governo indipendente nei Paesi Bassi che può condurre indagini sulle cause e le conseguenze di incidenti, grandi disastri o incidenti di altro tipo. Questo organo è stato istituito il 1° febbraio 2005 come successore del Consiglio per la Sicurezza dei Trasporti, che a sua volta era il successore del Consiglio per gli Incidenti Ferroviari, del Consiglio per l'Aviazione e della Commissione per le Leggi sui Disastri della Navigazione Interna. Anche il Consiglio Marino è diventato parte dell'OVV nel 2005.
Il lavoro del Consiglio di Ricerca è particolarmente rivolto al miglioramento della sicurezza e alla prevenzione di incidenti futuri. L'ex ministro delle Finanze Jeroen Dijsselbloem è il presidente del Consiglio di Ricerca.
