Circondato da un fossato, un giardino all'inglese e un frutteto di alberi ad alto fusto, il Castello Genhoes si trova discretamente dietro la chiesa di Oud-Valkenburg. Genhoes significa letteralmente ‘la casa’.
La storia del castello risale a circa mille anni fa, ma l'attuale castello circondato da un fossato risale al tardo medioevo. È costruito in marnosa e mattoni e presenta gli elementi di un castello classico, come una torre angolare e un fossato con un ponte sopra.
Nella tenuta invece si trova una tipica fattoria affittata del Limburgo. Dal 1955 Natuurmonumenten gestisce il complesso.
