Rodeado por un foso, un jardín inglés y un huerto de árboles frutales altos, el Castillo Genhoes se encuentra discretamente detrás de la iglesia de Oud-Valkenburg. Genhoes significa literalmente 'la casa'.
La historia del castillo se remonta a hace mil años, pero el actual castillo amurallado data de la baja Edad Media. Está construido de marga y ladrillo y posee los elementos de un castillo clásico, como una torre de esquina y un foso con un puente sobre él.
En la finca, en cambio, se encuentra una típica granja de arrendamiento limburguense. Desde 1955, Natuurmonumenten gestiona el complejo.
