Questo lungo e stretto valle secco a sud di Schin op Geul è una delle aree escursionistiche più amate del Sud Limburg. Nelle praterie calcaree fioriscono diverse specie di rare orchidee selvatiche. Il Staatsbosbeheer mantiene qui un giardino di orchidee, dove è possibile passeggiare nel campo durante il periodo di fioritura (maggio, giugno) e ammirare i fiori fragili senza calpestarli.
Il Gerendal è particolarmente intatto. Le pecore pascolano tra le colline, sentieri serpeggiano tra siepi piene di uccelli, lungo crocifissi stradali e ai margini lussureggianti della foresta. Una singola casetta completa l'immagine pittoresca.
