Il Monumento Nassau è stato eretto in memoria del legame quincentenario (1904) tra Breda e la casa d'Orange-Nassau. Nel 1404, Engelbrecht I di Nassau-Dillenburg fu celebrato come signore di Breda.
La statua è stata realizzata a forma di castello ed è coronata da un leone. Oltre ai nomi e agli stemmi familiari di Engelbrecht e di sua moglie Johanna di Polanen, sul monumento sono presenti gli stemmi dei comuni della Baronia di Breda.
Il monumento è stato svelato il 3 luglio 1905 dalla regina Guglielmina.
