La Marneslenk è un ex braccio di mare a sud di Harlingen. A partire dal circa l'anno 300 iniziò a salire il livello del mare e il lago Almere si espanse fino a formare il Zuiderzee. In quel periodo sorsero anche il Middelzee e la Marneslenk. Negli anni 1100-1300 la Marneslenk fu progressivamente bonificata. Attualmente, la Marneslenk è costituita da prati e si trova sopra il livello del mare. Dighe come il parzialmente scavato Pingjumer Gulden Halsband ricordano ancora l'ex braccio di mare. La Bedelaarsvaart può essere considerata come l'acqua che resta della Marneslenk.
