Il Veerse Gat era un varco marino nello Zeeland, tra Noord-Beveland e Walcheren. Fu chiuso nel 1961 nell'ambito dei lavori di Delta dalla diga Veerse Gat. In questo modo divenne il Veerse Meer. Fino al
1961, il Veerse Gat era l'accesso al porto di Veere. Da allora, questo porto è accessibile solo tramite una chiusa nel Zandkreekdam e ha perso la sua importanza come porto di pescatori.
Dopo la chiusura, Jaap Fischer scrisse la canzone Het Veerse Gat. La prima riga del ritornello recita: Il varco è chiuso, il porto è per johoho, per johohohoker.
