Nella Groeve Blom, a partire dalla metà degli anni cinquanta del secolo scorso, vennero estratti sabbia, ghiaia e marna.
Il precedente gestore e nominatore della cava ha trasformato l'area di sette ettari, dopo la cessazione dell'attività estrattiva, in un vero paradiso naturale.
Ripide pendici di rocce di marna si alternano a zone pianeggianti ricche di fiori. In una profonda cavità si è formata una grande pozzanghera e lungo tutta la cava si trovano piccoli stagni, che si prosciugano regolarmente.
I valori naturali straordinari sono mantenuti dalla Stichting Het Limburgs Landschap in collaborazione con un gruppo di volontari.
