Il Viale Verde è un ampio viale a Maastricht sopra il tunnel Willem-Alexander, con al centro una pista ciclabile e pedonale larga 6 metri e molto verde su entrambi i lati.
È stato inaugurato il 29 marzo 2018 dal Re Willem-Alexander e ha una lunghezza totale di 3,6 km.
Il tunnel per auto a due strati unico sottostante è stato inaugurato precedentemente, precisamente secondo il piano e nel budget, nella notte tra il 15 e il 16 dicembre 2016 dall'allora ministro delle Infrastrutture e dell'Ambiente Melanie Schultz van Haegen.
Sia il Viale Verde che il tunnel Willem-Alexander sono subentrati alla trafficata autostrada A2 che fino ad allora attraversava la città (“con i soli semafori tra Amsterdam e Milano”) e formava un grande ostacolo tra i quartieri adiacenti.
Ora il Viale Verde rappresenta anche un bel collegamento tra la zona delle proprietà rurali “Buitengoed Geul e Maas” a nord, tre parchi (il Lourdespark, il Vrijheidspark e l'Oranjepark) al centro e il quartiere Randwijck a sud.
