Odoorn è un luogo nel comune di Borger-Odoorn, nella provincia di Drenthe. Odoorn contava il 1 gennaio 2021 1.890 abitanti. Secondo Van Berkel e Samplonius, il nome Odoorn deriva dal nome personale Odheri tramite Oreng o Oeringe e Odering. Il documento più antico in cui appare il nome Odoorn è una lettera sigillata del 2 luglio 1327 del monastero Ten Nije Lichte. In una lettera del 1376 incontriamo di nuovo il nome Odoorn. In quel caso il nome è Oderen. In un manoscritto del 1548 appare ancora il nome, nella frase: "il pastore di Oderen". In un manoscritto del 1393 il nome è Odern, in uno del 1431 Oederen e in uno del 1546 troviamo: il borgo di Oideren.
