Ypenburg è un quartiere dell'Aia, sviluppato nel sito in cui si trovava l'aeroporto di Ypenburg dal 1936. Dopo la chiusura dell'aeroporto il 20 settembre 1992, dal 1997 è stato sviluppato in questa località un nuovo quartiere Vinex per circa 30.000 abitanti. Nel 2002 Ypenburg è stato unito all'Aia tramite una riorganizzazione comunale prescritta dalla provincia, a scapito di parti dei comuni di Rijswijk, Pijnacker e Nootdorp. Insieme ai quartieri adiacenti di Hoornwijk, Forepark e Leidschenveen, Ypenburg forma dal 2002 Leidschenveen-Ypenburg, l'ottavo distretto dell'Aia.
