Kortgene è una città e un ex comune nella Noord-Beveland, nella provincia olandese della Zelanda. La popolazione ammonta a 1.910. Kortgene viene menzionata per la prima volta come parrocchia nel 1247. La chiesa dedicata alla S.Vergine apparteneva al capitolo di San Pietro a Utrecht. Filippo di Borssele fece costruire una nuova chiesa nel 1413, ma nel incendio del 1423 il villaggio e la chiesa andarono completamente distrutti. I kortgenaari ricostruirono il villaggio e nel 1431 apparve per la prima volta su carta la menzione “die stede van Cortkene”.
