Le Aa-broeken sono un relitto del precedente paesaggio vallivo del fiume Aa. L'area è composta da prati, intervallati da boschetti, boschi umidi di latifoglie e zone paludose. Nel contesto delle provvidenze lavorative, negli anni '30 è stata realizzata una pista di pattinaggio comunale.
Il comune di Veghel ha attualmente stabilito che le Aa-broeken devono diventare un'area naturale speciale. Con l'acquisto di 10 ha di terreno agricolo viene compensata la costruzione dell'A50 in quest'area. Nel quadro del Masterplan de Aa, quest'area sarà trasformata in prati fioriti naturali, paludi e boschi umidi. Grazie a sentieri e percorsi pedonali, l'area sarà adatta per il tempo libero. Mantenendo l'umidità dell'habitat nell'area naturale, la flora e la fauna originarie avranno una nuova possibilità.
