Il ponte levatoio di Breukelen è un'attrazione storica sul Vecht. Tradizionalmente, gli americani che visitavano Breukelen chiamavano il ponte ‘il ponte olandese di Brooklyn’. Il ponte levatoio non assomiglia affatto al ponte di Brooklyn, lungo quasi due chilometri, che attraversa l'East River a Brooklyn, New York, quindi la somiglianza nel nome pronunciato in inglese non è più di un divertissement. Fin dal XVI secolo c'era un ponte sul Vecht, probabilmente un piccolo ponte levatoio di legno. L'attuale ponte sarà sostituito nella metà del 2022 con uno nuovo, realizzato in stile storico. Il ponte è il ‘punto di snodo’ nei due circuiti del percorso in bicicletta Breukelen-Brooklyn 375.
