Il faro di Workum è il precedente faro quadrato bianco in mattoni o struttura luminosa sul IJsselmeer lungo l'Hylperdyk all'ingresso del porto di Workum.
Il faro originale fu costruito nel 1643 quando fu realizzata anche la diga tra Workum e Hindeloopen. All'epoca era costituito da quattro sostegni in quercia, una base quadrata in quercia e una lastra di ferro, su cui si trovava il braciere. Quella struttura in legno fu sostituita da una torre di pietra che aveva tre piani e nel 1712 fu costruita una casa accanto.
