La Minervalaan è la dea della Zuidas, secondo Maarten Kloos e Marlies Buurman (Centro di Architettura di Amsterdam). Bernard Hulsman della NRC ha definito il viale una strada senza coscienza, che va da una piazza vaghe intorno all'hotel Hilton fino a una piazza vaghe davanti alla stazione Zuid.
Il progetto è un'opera d'arte di urbanistica, concepito in un'unica gestualità dall'architetto J.C. Blaauw, con al centro la piazza Minerva. Grazie al ritmo regolare di finestre piuttosto piccole e dettagliate, non si riesce a capire dove inizia o finisce un'abitazione. Da bambino pensavo fosse un grande ospedale. Per una piazza così bella è strano che ci sia così tanto silenzio.
