Der Minervalaan ist die Göttin der Zuidas, laut Maarten Kloos und Marlies Buurman (Architektur Zentrum Amsterdam). Bernard Hulsman von der NRC nannte die Allee eine bewusstlose Straße, die von einem vagen Platz rund um das Hilton-Hotel bis zu einem vagen Platz vor dem Bahnhof Zuid führt.
Der Entwurf ist ein Kunststück der Stadtplanung, in einem einzigen Gestus entworfen von Architekt J.C. Blaauw, mit dem Minervaplein in der Mitte. Durch den strengen Rhythmus von relativ kleinen und detaillierten Fensterfronten kann man nicht sehen, wo eine Wohnung beginnt oder endet. Als Kind dachte ich, es sei ein großes Krankenhaus. Für einen so schönen Platz ist es eigentlich seltsam still.
