La Minervalaan es la diosa de Zuidas, según Maarten Kloos y Marlies Buurman (Centro de Arquitectura de Ámsterdam). Bernard Hulsman de NRC la describió como una calle inconsciente, que va desde una plaza vaga alrededor del hotel Hilton hasta una plaza vaga frente a la estación Zuid.
El diseño es una obra maestra de urbanismo, concebida en un solo gesto por el arquitecto J.C. Blaauw, con la plaza Minerva en el centro. Debido al estricto ritmo de pequeñas y detalladas ventanas, no puedes ver dónde comienza o termina una vivienda. Cuando era niño, pensaba que era un gran hospital. Para una plaza tan hermosa, en realidad es notablemente silenciosa.
